Welcome to Dragonwyck Sanctuary, our backyard habitat located on Long Island, NY.  We began with a small suburban lawn-covered patch of land containing only an old above-ground swimming pool and rusting shed.  Overuse of pesticides and herbicides virtually eliminated any insects, and birds were limited to the occasional sparrow.  Over the past few years, we have gradually transformed this area into a lush haven of plants, birds, and other wildlife.
